Downloading and Installation

To use Reality AI Utilities with the e² Studio IDE, you must install the required software and development tools on the host PC. The installation process includes the Flexible Software Package (FSP), J-Link USB drivers, and the e² Studio IDE.

Downloading the Platform Installer

The platform installer includes all the necessary software and tools for Windows OS. You can download it from Renesas.com or the direct links provided below.

System Requirements

Before installation, ensure your workstation meets the following requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 (64-bit edition)
  • Hardware: Minimum of two USB 2.0 ports

Recommendation: Renesas recommends using the Quick Install option for a hassle-free setup with minimal manual configuration.

Installing the e² Studio IDE and Plugins

Use the Quick Install option to simplify installation and ensure all required components are set up correctly. Follow these steps to install e² Studio and the necessary plugins.

  1. Download the platform installer.
    • Go to the Renesas website and download the platform installer.
    • The installer includes all necessary components, such as the toolchain, IDE, and FSP software.
    • Run setup_fsp_v5_7_0_e2s_v2024-07.exe to begin the installation.
    • If prompted, select Install for all users.
    • If administrative privileges are required, contact your IT support team.
  2. Run the installer.
    • If you have a previous version of FSP or e² Studio installed, install this version in the same directory.
    • Keep a record of the installation path.
    • If this is a new installation, accept the default paths and locations.
  3. Select the Quick Install option to simplify the setup of the Renesas development environment.

You may be prompted multiple times to provide administrative rights for different software components.

  1. In the Additional Software section, select the appropriate FSP version for your RA family board.
    • The installer will automatically add the following plugins:
      • Data Storage Tool
      • AI Live Monitor
      • Hardware-In-Loop Testing
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the installation process. Make sure you installed the Memory usage plug-in as it is a Reality AI Utilities Plugin dependancy.

Note: The RA Flexible Software Package (FSP) v5.7.0 or later is required for compatibility with Reality AI Utilities Plugins.

Manually Installing or Updating Plugins

If you have already installed e² Studio and want to add or update Reality AI Utilities Plugins:

  1. Open e² Studio.
  2. Navigate to Help > Install New Software...
  3. In the Install dialog, locate and select Reality AI Utilities.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the selected tool.
    • If some Reality AI Utilities Plugins are already installed, this action will install any missing plugins and update the existing ones to the latest version.
  5. Restart e² Studio to complete the installation. Make sure you installed the Memory usage plug-in used by Reality AI Utilities Plugin.

By following these steps, you ensure that your e² Studio IDE is correctly set up with the required Reality AI tools, enabling efficient AI-powered signal processing and analysis.
